beavers & their vocalizations

since 2020 i’m researching beavers and their vocalizations, mapping the territories of these fascinating ecosystem-engineers or doing excursions and workshops. the recordings of a beaver family at the danube won the “sound of the year” award in the category “best naturally occuring sound” as well as the “boughton fieldcraft” award by the wildlife sound recording society.

in 2023 franziska thurner & i founded the beaver lab – an art & science communication project: beaverlab.at
